War on Iraq has resulted Integrity of UN.org at stakePosted by sadashivan on March 23, 2003 at 12:15:07:
UN has failed to stop the war and hold them back. What began by US and UK, without reaching censuses within UN mandate? World community will openly challenge UN role. UN needs the restructuring its functioning for maintaining its integrity that is fit to modern world. Issue is not war on Iraq rather now the issue is UN claim of: To maintain international peace and security in accordance with
the principles and purposes of the United Nations. Will this war be declared illegal and Bush and Blair are brought to justice? Will they be declared war criminals? Will UN be able to apply sanctions on participating countries? Will these countries membership to UN be suspended? War on Iraq by US and UK created suspicious atmosphere in the world as who is next. Is it Iran? Is it North Korea? Or who is next. If action not taken jointly by elected or opposing permanent members to crush dictatorial behavior of some countries, will mean powerful and strong country can do anything, UN consensus is no matter. Reliability and dependability on role of UN Will be at stake. UN functioning need to be truly democratic though is not international Government yet its functioning is for international security if any action required of military option should be within UN mandate. No country by should be authorized to take any step of its own in the name of disarmament or aggression. Any country taking confidence of 5-6 or more other countries can attack in the name of disarmament then what is role of UN and it exists. IF action of US and UK is not illegalized and action against them is not taken, use of chemical weapon during protection from aggression will become problem for UN to declare as illegal. Many affected countries will stop relying on UN reliability. For UN it is 1945 it is 2003 and should review to improve system of functioning so the reliability is maintained intact. Will people call UN.Org (Unwanted nonsense organization)? Best regards
